An itinerary for first time visitors in Auroville

I have created an itinerary to help you plan your travel and see some of the best places here. I am sharing a few suggestions based on my experience and would recommend this to my family & friends. This is not an exhaustive list and you can do a lot more based on your interests, time, and budget!

Auroville, is an experimental township, 11 kms away from Pondicherry in Tamil Nadu, based on the teaching and philosophy of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother
Auroville wants to be a universal town where men and women of all countries are able to live in peace and progressive harmony above all creeds, all politics and all nationalities. The purpose of Auroville is to realise human unity (Source)
Auroville is an educational campus administered by the Ministry of Education in India. As a result, it is not a regular tourist spot that has monuments to visit. Instead, it is a space for learning and diverse events take place every day. However, many organizations & eating joints may be closed on Sundays so please plan accordingly.
The first suggestion would be to look at the News & Notes- released every Thursday. The document presents all the events in Auroville for visitors weekly. Please download the recent one from here

Mantrimandir visit (Viewing Point) - Passes available at the Visitor Centre
Mantrimandir visit (Morning) - Prior booking is required - Phones not allowed inside
Svaram tour at 11 am or 3 pm (musical experience) - Details here
Pitchandikulam forest walk - Prior booking is required

Where to Eat?
These are some of the eateries within Auroville - please check their timings before visiting. I have visited all the ones below. You can find many more on the Auroville main road, a prominent tourist hotspot.
Sustenance Farm (Open on all days) -Highly recommend for breakfast
A simple meal- Idli at Sustenance farm Solitude Cafe (Closed on Sundays) - Highly recommend for lunch
Solitude Cafe Solar Kitchen (Closed on Sundays) - Prior booking required & access with Aurocard
Neem Tree (Closed on Sundays)
Auroville Bakery (Closed on Sundays)
Visitor’s center (Closed on Mondays) - Highly recommend for dinner
Naturellment (Closed on Tuesdays)
LA Terrace (Closed on Thursdays) - Access with Aurocard only
